Oy Vey!!

Blogindm posted that “Yerachmiel Begun and the Miami Boys Choir and Yaakov Shwekey will be appearing at a concert in Israel in honor of the 104th B-day of the Rebbe Melech Hamoshiach.”

Canonist, Town Crier, and Hirhurim all comment.

My take: If the main difference between Jewish music and non-Jewish music is the character and beliefs of the person/people singing the music, how can Shwekey and MBC take part in this at all?
Add me to the list of people who think that Shwekey and MBC should stay far, far away.

  1. Wow.
I would like to believe what Hirhurim said: that the poster was printed without their permission/knowledge (possible), and an apology will be forthcoming soon (pffffft…right). Neither Begun nor Shwekey are Lubavitch, so either Hirhurim is right, or they find the ad to be such a joke they can’t bring themselves to take it seriously.

  2. Hey Aryeh,

I heard that a cool Acapella album is coming out for sefirah, made in out of town. Did you hear about this? Do you think an album that is made in out of town can be good? Just want to know if you know the hock and what you think

  3. Sameach released a podcast with a clip of the new album. See for yourself if something from “out of town” is good.–>
